BORROWING BRILLIANCE by David Murray is one to which most of us can relate to. For me personally, I have always thought that Genius are people who can create things out of nowhere. Something like when Mike had a thunderbolt in “the godfather”. Ironically, it reminds me of Dan Brown, you remember that novel where someone was possessed spoke a foreign language he has never heard before. On investigation, it happened that he had lived with a national of that language. That is how you will discover that most “inventors” stand on the shoulders of giants (most times unknown) from Zuckerberg to Bill gate to Steve Jobs to Fords to anyone you are currently thinking about. David argues that ideas are borrowed not created.
The most important part of the Borrowing Brilliance is David’s ability to trace the origin of ideas. If you are like me, you likely thought that Charles Darwin got the evolution idea from nowhere, or Malthus got his idea on population from the blues, but David traced these ideas to the point where it is proven that the idea was borrowed and improved.
In the book, I learnt how not to waste time with ideas that do not work. How to enter in the subconscious and speak in a foreign tongue through the incubation of ideas that you never knew you were capable of.
Are you an entrepreneur or do you dream of been the “idea person” then you really need to read this book and you will thank me later.
